Dispute Resolution Advocacy and Advisory(Mediation, Negotiation, Conciliation & Counselling)

One of the major drivers of company policy today is the need for effective corporate governance as a means for achieving sustainable economic, social and environmental performance.  An emerging trend in global best practices in governance is the use of Mediation as a key method of resolving disputes and conflicts.

Major incentives for choosing Mediation as a dispute resolution method include reputation assurance, privacy and confidentiality, promotion of goodwill, preservation of business and personal relationships and effective cost containment.  We counsel Clients and work closely with them to secure these incentives, appropriately.

When we are not Mediating, we represent Clients in Mediations, as advocates and advisors, guiding them to achieve the best results possible through skilful negotiation, bridge building and prudent conflict management.

However, we also recognize that Mediation might not in all circumstances be the best method of resolving or managing a particular dispute or conflict.  Our policy, therefore, is always to work with the Client to determine the Appropriate Dispute Resolution (our approach to “ADR”, to borrow the words of a notable author) method.  In this regard, the Firm’s strength has been its demonstrated ability to initiate or support innovative “out-of-the-box” solutions specifically structured and adapted to meet Clients’ individual needs and peculiar circumstances.

We have established a provable track record of success in facilitating resolution of our Clients’ disputes and conflicts with governmental and regulatory authorities and institutions, as well as with other private companies and other corporate organizations and in joint ventures.  In many cases, we have also been able to assist Clients in achieving an optimal rationalisation of their litigation docket.

Our Principal, ‘Yemi Akisanya, is a CEDR (the UK Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) accredited Mediator.  He enjoys a high demand for his services both in private mediations and also as a member of the Panel of Neutrals at the Lagos Multi-door Court House, as well as the ADR Tracks of the Lagos and Ikeja Judicial Divisions, respectively, of the High Court of Lagos State, of Nigeria.
