Adeyemi (‘Yemi) Akisanya obtained the LL.B, with honours, from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1976 and an LL.M, in 1979, from the London School of Economics and Political Science.  He was called to the Nigerian Bar in July, 1977 and enrolled as a Notary Public in October 2011.

He has worked with the Oyo State (of Nigeria) Ministry of Justice, (1977-1978); the law firm of Odujinrin and Adefulu, in Lagos, Nigeria, (1979-1980); the law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell, in New York, USA, (1980-1981) and the Law Department of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (“MPNU”), an ExxonMobil subsidiary, (1981-2002).  He retired voluntarily from MPNU in March 2002, after over twenty years of service in various capacities, including Senior Counsel, International Transactions Counsel, Company Secretary and Acting General Counsel.

‘Yemi Akisanya is presently engaged in private law practice as Principal of Adeyemi-Akisanya Associates, a highly skilled, service oriented “boutique” law firm with specialized expertise in: Energy, Natural Resources & Power (Transactions, Projects & Financing); Dispute Resolution Advisory & Practice (Mediation, Mediation Advocacy & Conflict Management); Corporate Governance; Joint Ventures and other Commercial Transactions; Ethical Laws (US FCPA, UK Bribery Act, etc.); Estates & Wills; and Properties (Documentation, Due Diligence, Title Rectification & Perfection), as its core areas of practice.

‘Yemi has a special focus on marginal field operations, legal support and advisory to indigenous E & P operators and oil service companies, local content development and the resolution of disputes through Mediation and Mediation Advocacy.  He is generally recognized for the depth of his experience in the Energy (Oil and Gas) Sector and has advised government, as well as public and private companies and individuals on a full range of international corporate and commercial matters within the sector, including taxation, statutory & regulatory compliance, project development, new business venture structuring and development, joint ventures and other kinds of business transactions and arrangements.

‘Yemi Akisanya is a CEDR Accredited Mediator; a member of the Standing Conference of Mediation Advocates, UK (“SCMA”); a SCMA Certified Mediation Advocacy Trainer; and, member and advisory board member of SCMA Nigeria.  Apart from his private practice in Mediation and Mediation Advocate, he is on the Panel of Neutrals of the Lagos Multi Door Court House (“LMDC”).  He is also a member of the Dispute Resolution Panel of the Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission (“NERC”).  He has had great success and recognition as a credible mediator, mediation advocate, negotiator, bridge builder and peacemaker.

‘Yemi is a regular speaker and facilitator at conferences, seminars and workshops in the foregoing areas, especially in the area of Alternate Dispute Resolution, with a special focus on Mediation and Mediation Advocacy.

His memberships include: member, Nigerian Bar Association [Section on Business Law]; member, International Bar Association [Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law]; member, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators; member, the Advisory Board of the Institute for Energy Law; member, the Petroleum Club, Nigeria; member, LSE Lawyers’ Alumni Group; member, International Institute for Petroleum Energy Law and Policy, Nigeria; Life Fellow, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation; and a member, Trustee and the Honorary Secretary, of the Musical Society of Nigeria.  Yemi is also an ordained Pastor and Minister of the Word.


Oluwafemi (‘Femi) Olaoye, Senior Associate:

Femi is a dedicated hard worker; and, a skillful lawyer with a keen eye for details and a passion for excellence.  He is proficiently vast in his understanding and experience in Corporate Governance, Energy Law, Joint Ventures, Venture Development, Due Diligence and Real Property practice.

Femi advises local and international Clients, including government agencies and parastatals on diverse Commercial Transactions, Joint Ventures.  He also handles a significant amount of the Firm’s work in Marginal Field Operations, Oilfield Service Contracts, and Real Property.  Femi has sound knowledge and understanding in Ethical Laws including, but not limited to the US FCPA, the UK Bribery Law and such other laws and regulations.

Femi is an ardent advocate for the use of Mediation, Mediation Advocacy, Negotiation and Conciliation as a preferable option in Dispute Resolution.

Ayodeji James Oyetunde, Associate:

Deji is an innovative Lawyer who has cultivated and developed in-depth knowledge and understanding of Energy Law, Taxation, Employment Law and Corporate Commercial Transactions.

He has worked as part of a team that provided advisory services in Marginal Field Operations, Business Structures, Venture Development and Financing, Joint Ventures and other kinds of business transactions and arrangements and has provided legal support and advisory to local and international clients in these areas.  Deji is highly skilled in the practice of Wills and Estate Administration and he currently leads in the administration of the estates under the custody and supervision of the Firm.

Deji also plays a significant role in the Firm’s practice in courtroom litigation.  He is nonetheless a strong advocate for Mediation and Conciliation as Dispute Resolution mechanisms.

Veronica Okafor, Associate:

Veronica is a discerning researcher.  With a keen eye for detail, she is rapidly creating a niche for herself in the Firm’s Commercial Practice.  Her main practice areas are in Company Formation, Corporate Governance, and Regulatory Compliance with specialized expertise in Local Content law and regulation.  She also majors in Company Secretarial practice (including Company formation, documentation, Board meetings, records and other processes), Real Property and Due Diligence.

Vera is a Mediation Advocate.  Whenever required, she also participates in courtroom litigation for the Firm’s clients.
